Fishing...

The Avonmore River runs through Hidden Valley Park, and holds large stocks of wild brown trout. Fishing is available onsite. There are also nice trails up and down the river amongst the forest with great fishing.
Fishing season: March 15 to September 30th
Fishing permits: daily €5.00, 2 days €8.00, 7 days €27.00

Kayaking and rowing boats...
Kayaks and rowing boats may be hired out on our own private lake. All gear and life jackets are provided. We offer single and double kayaks, and the rowing boats can hold up to 5 people. All boats are hired by the hour at €5 for a kayak, or €2 per person for a rowing boat.

The river is also suitable for kayaking, however you will need to bring your own kayak. There are different drop-in locations, which will bring you down the river and back to the campsite.

Swimming...
The river is a great place to cool off on those warm summer days. The river varies in depths, and is suitable for all ages. There is a beach leading out to the river where you can sunbathe on the hot sand, build sandcastles with your kids, or just relax
near the waters edge.

Nature walks...
There are numerous walks from the park, or within a few minutes drive. There are trails from the campsite that lead up and down the river. The walks are peaceful and secluded. Many different animals, plants and birds can be seen, as well as fish in the river. Another option is to walk to the Avondale house, which offers beautiful grounds, walking trails, fishing, playgrounds and snacks/beverages. Glendalough is a 10 minute drive from the park, where there are endless walks, fishing, horseback riding and much more. Please see our County Wicklow Attractions page for more information.

Frisbee, horseshoes and everything else...
The park offers wide open spaces to play a variety of games. Why not ask reception to have a horseshoe competition one day, and a boat race the next? Please feel free to bring your games from home to play on the park with your family and maybe even with your new neighbours.
